A two hundred mile ride out started from McDonalds in Broughton with Keith and Tony. A quick sprint down A483 to meet Bill and Linda at Newtown incorporating a late breakfast at McDonalds. Mmmmm Healthy!
From there we rode through Llaniloes, then to Rhayarder then a short hop to Elan Vally Visitor Centre. More Food and drink there (lunch).
The mountain road from there to Devil's Bridge is one road everyone should take. Although narrow in places a good pace can be kept up over undulations and twisties. The scenery however is not to be missed. Photographs are rare from bikers making their route as it's too nice to stop!
Another break after Devil's Bridge was taken at Aberystwyth. (Late Lunch) From here we rode up to Machynlleth, over Brithdir Mountain and into Dollgellau for a petrol stop. From there, on to Bala then home via Llandegla.

Three Counties Round Robin
Five riders left Bill Smiths at 1015. Out via Waverton, Hargrave, Tatenhall, Burwardsley with Breakfast at Broxton. The hard winter has taken it's toll on the counties roads. From there we took A41 to Whitchurch, A525 to Newcastle then a slow town ride through Stoke area to Leek on A53. From thre to Buxton and onto A54 for Cat and Fiddle Coffee stop. Congleton proved a problem where we went our separate ways unintentially. Nonetheless we all had a good ride out with just 30 seconds worth of rain outside Buxton. Lots of traffic throughout was a pain though.

Claire House Hospice Charity Run out Sunday 6th December 2009 Raising Approx £1000.00 on the day! Around 150 Riders turned up for the Annual Mods and Rockers Charity Ride out in aid of Claire House Hospice The route From Bill Smiths took in Tarvin Road, to Long Lane through Upton to A41 at Moston. Continuing through Backford, Mercury Roundabout (is it still called that?) Great Sutton, Little Sutton to Hooton. Our marshals tried to direct other riders coming through but they weren't tempted. Hooton through to Willaston then along Clatterbridge Lane to The Hospice. Far too many Riders all willing to go in but were narrowed to just 12 who presented the Hospice with many, many toys, teddy bears and other animals. Our return took us all different ways back. I'm sure some riders got lost as the exit route was different from our entrance and the signage left a lot to be desired for strangers to the area. Talking of strangers, a BIG thanks goes out to those who attended form other areas ie Telford and Manchester. Many Returned to the Frog for a drink and food afterwards.
Hi everyone can I just say a big thankyou for your support in attending this years toy run . It was a huge success and we have raised approx £1000 for Claire House ..awesome well done everyone.
The pictures of the run will be on the website very shortly so check it out.
Thanks again everyone.
Kelvin Bill Smiths
A Very Cold Crisp Morning ride out on 17th October 2009 Leaving McDonalds in Broughton at 10.00am. We all had a look at Bill's new aquisition. A shiny new Street Triple. Good on Yer Bill!! Our first stop at Rhug (pronounced Reeg) for a warming cuppa and bite to eat. A stop to take photos at Bala Lake turned up a problem. Namely a nail in Phil's rear tyre.
(Why do they almost always miss the front?) Our hero for the day has to be Graham. He had in his tool kit a plug and cement with which several members lent a hand fixed the hole in the tyre and got us back on the road again albeit at a slightly slower pace in view of the temporary repair. Suddenly the sun started to break through the mist and all the world looked lovely again. A stop in Machynllyth to check the progress of the dodgy tyre repair and we were on our way again.
Lunch in Aberystwyth preceded a ride back along A44 to Llangurig, A 470 to Newtown and Then A483 back towards our respective destinations. An excellent turn out for a cold Saturday morning in October. Thanks to all those who came along.
